Christopher G. Willett, M.D.
Chairman, Radiation Oncology Department
Duke University Medical Center

The Department of Radiation Oncology of Duke University Medical Center has four core missions:

·        To provide expert, compassionate, and prompt clinical service to our patients.
·        To generate new knowledge concerning the causes, prevention, and treatment of cancer.

·        To transmit new knowledge, from clinical and laboratory research, to the medical community and the public.

·        To actively participate in, and further the missions of, the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center , Duke University Medical Center , and Duke University.

We envision the Department becoming an internationally pre-eminent academic radiation oncology department; recognized by our peers for exceptional clinical care, the conduct and reporting of important research, and the practice of effective teaching.

We will make every effort to be responsive to requests for consultation and treatment which originate from the Web site. We also welcome inquiries concerning our research and educational programs.

As one of the United States ' largest and most active academic radiation oncology programs, we recognize our responsibility to the public we serve.
