About the Department

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Duke University Medical Center provides state-of-the-art cancer treatment for a wide variety of tumor types.

Radiation Oncology is a member of the Duke Cancer Institute and participates with colleagues in Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology to facilitate a comprehensive, multidisciplinary-team approach to the care of cancer.

Among Radiation Oncology faculty are three Fellows of the American College of Radiology, one Fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology, four winners of the Robinson Award for lifetime research achievement in hyperthermia and many physicians listed in Best Doctors in America.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Duke University Hospital is equipped with modern linear accelerators that have both photon and electron capabilities, plus electronic portal imaging and on-board imaging with cone-beam CT. The Department of Radiation Oncology provides a full range of radiation treatment options including conformal precision radiation therapy, brachytherapy and stereotactic therapies.
