First Adaptive Treatment Completed on Varian Ethos with HyperSight

Earlier this year, we installed a new treatment system, the Varian Ethos with HyperSight – the first of its kind in the state. The Ethos offers image-guided radiation therapy with a faster treatment time than other machines and superior imaging quality. It also offers real-time adaptive radiation therapy, which allows for patients' treatment to be adjusted during therapy based on anatomy and other factors.

In November 2025, the first adaptive treatment was completed. "Our first adaptive treatment on the Ethos machine was delivered successfully – a milestone in our journey toward more personalized, adaptive radiation therapy," said Sua Yoo, PhD, interim chief physicist. "The in-room time ranges from approximately 20 to 40 minutes, and we anticipate expanding adaptive treatments to more patients across a variety of disease sites."

Congratulations to the team on this accomplishment!
