Congratulations to Ruilin Li, MS, and Wentao Wang, PhD, on the successful completion of their training. Both will be moving to Pennsylvania for their new jobs. Ruilin will be starting at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh as a clinical physicist, where she will cover a wide range of physics activities including MR Linac. Dr. Wang will be joining Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in a faculty position. We believe our program has set them up to succeed in their new roles and we wish them the best of luck!
Additional congratulations are due to Sua Yoo, PhD, who was named Instructor of the Year for the radiation therapy physics residency program. About Dr. Yoo, Dr. Wang said the following: "As the supervisor for the treatment planning rotation, Sua has been there for us from the very start of our residency. In the dosimetry room, Sua arguably has the most interactions with residents throughout our training and is always willing to answer any questions we have. Not only is she knowledgeable in clinical procedures for many different sites, I also learned from her about how to manage a large clinical operation such as Duke." Ruilin said, "Thank you Sua for being our umbrella during our first rotation in clinic, as well as day-to-day clinical operations throughout our residency!"
Resident experience
Wentao Wang, PhD: "Having completed my PhD in medical physics at Duke, I got to know the outstanding faculty of radiation oncology and decided to stay for residency. When I started in July 2021, it was a daunting task at first to absorb all the clinical knowledge and learn the procedures, but the staff and faculty were all super friendly and willing to help. I soon found that, no matter their position, there was always something to learn from everyone in the Department. Once I built up some confidence and experience, I took on more clinical tasks and became part of the team. The two years of training has been an incredible journey that prepared me well for a career as a medical physicist."
Ruilin Li, MS: "We are lucky to be able to work with the amazing staff and faculty group, who provided us a safe environment to explore and learn as residents! Thank you all for the wonderful two years!"
