Message from the Chair

It’s an honor to serve as chair of Duke Radiation Oncology during such a dynamic time for our field. Across our clinical, research and educational missions, our department continues to push the boundaries of innovation while remaining grounded in our commitment to exceptional patient care, scientific discovery and the training of future leaders.

This year’s report highlights the remarkable momentum across Duke Radiation Oncology and the many ways our team is shaping the future of cancer care. From the integration of adaptive radiation technologies that enable precision in real time, to groundbreaking investigations into ultra-high dose rate FLASH radiation therapy for brain tumors, our team continues to advance the science and practice of radiation oncology.

Ongoing efforts to expand access to care underscore our responsibility to reach patients and communities more effectively. We continue to make progress toward our proton therapy center, which will allow us to deliver highly specialized, patient-centered care across the region and beyond.

I am deeply grateful for the dedication of our entire team. Together, we are building a future defined by innovation and collaboration.
