Dr. Koontz and co-author Thomas Hope, MD, congratulated the STAMPEDE trial group on improving understanding of best treatment options and confirming that focusing more aggressive therapies targeting bulkier sites of disease can improve survival when the systemic burden of disease is low, but noted that more work is yet to be done to understand the role of metastasis-directed therapy and the influence of better imaging on quantifying the burden of disease and predicting benefit of RT for metastatic prostate cancer.
