Application Process

Admissions Policy:

• Please note that only U.S. citizens or individuals with permanent resident status are eligible for admission.
• Board-certified in radiography from ARRT – RT(R) by the program start date.
• An associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university is strongly encouraged at the time of enrollment. Any major is acceptable. However, certificate-only radiographers are welcome to apply.

Applicants must do the following:

• Complete and submit a Duke Radiation Therapy Application (TBD/TK)
• Submit transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended and any previous registry scores
• Submit two letters of recommendation. One must be from a clinical instructor/preceptor in or from your radiography program – download form (TBD/TK)

After completing and submitting the application package, the Advisory Committee will evaluate a candidate’s qualifications for the study and practice of radiation therapy. The Advisory Committee will invite selected candidates to proceed to a personal interview. The individual interview is a crucial part of the admission process, enabling prospective students to obtain more information about the program, but also allows the committee to assess better factors such as motivation, professionalism, and interpersonal communication skills. Letters of invitation to interview will be sent via email, typically in late January, and a single interview session is scheduled mid-to-late February. Interview times will be flexible depending on staff schedules; however, an interview make-up date will not be offered. Selection for a personal interview does not guarantee admission into the program. The Duke program accepts a maximum of five candidates for their initial cohort, and a competitive environment is anticipated.
